Mario Stinger

A pen name. A career in industrial counter-espionage. A long association with the United Nations. A disquieting habit of being right about things before the rest of us are.

Mario Stinger is the pen name of a Canadian author whose day work has, for a long time now, run through the corridors of international organisations and the quieter corners of corporate security. He publishes under a pseudonym because the books hit close enough to the mark that his own passport becomes a problem if they don't.

The Denial Protocol series is, on the page, a hard-SF thriller about seven hidden facilities, a six-hundred-thousand-year-old civilisation and the people trying to decide what the rest of us are worth. Off the page, it is a book about institutions, the people who run them, and the slow compromise that becomes everyone's job once the payroll is large enough.

The Books

Denial Protocol: The Facility (formerly published in 2017 as Destined for Oblivion: As Nature Intended) is the first novel in the series. A revised, restructured, re-edited edition is being prepared for republication under the new series title.

Denial Protocol: Unnatural Selection is in final draft. Book Three is being written.

On the Rewrite

This site, and the republication behind it, represent a deliberate fresh start. The 2017 edition circulated with editorial scars the author was not able to close at the time. The new editions are being prepared with the full series arc in hand — so that what Book One hints at, Book Two and Book Three are already prepared to deliver.

"Writing a novel is an argument with the world. Republishing one is an argument with your earlier self, and it turns out to be the harder conversation."
